Tornado Relief Information

Thank you for the outpouring of resources since the April 27 tornado. Due to the support and generosity of our friends, neighbors, and members, Calvary has furnished over 85 new homes for tornado victims. However, our ministry to these families is just beginning! We are in the process of meeting with individuals and community agencies to learn how best to serve now that most immediate needs have been met.

Tornado Relief Q&A

How did Calvary know who to help?

First, Calvary made it a priority to serve our own members who were affected by the Tornado. However, we knew our scope had to be much broader. Previous to the tornado, Calvary had a relationship with the Tuscaloosa Housing Authority in Rosedale Courts, one of the most affected communities. In the days after the tornado, we received names and new addresses from the Housing Authority of individuals whose homes were destroyed.

Can I Still Give?

Though our online Pay-Pal account is no longer active, you can mail a check designated for "Tornado Relief Fund" to us at 1121 Paul W. Bryant Dr., Tuscaloosa, AL 35401.

Where Can I Donate Items?

Calvary has partnered with Temporary Emergency Services: 1705 15th Street, Tuscaloosa, AL, 35401 (205-758-5535). Please take and mail all items to TES.

Can I Bring a Work Crew in to Serve with Calvary?

At this point, Calvary is not set-up to partner with work crews. We suggest you contact the Tuscaloosa Baptist Association at (205) 339-2273. They are connecting work crews with local needs. Remember, you can also check in with the city's volunteer center. See Below.

How Can I Volunteer with the City?

Calvary seeks to be excellent at following as well as leading. We are thankful we can follow our city's leadership in serving Tuscaloosa. To volunteer with the city visit www.ttownvolunteer.com. Their address is 2512 University Blvd. E, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404. You can also reach them at (205) 248-5045

Our Annex stayed full of furniture from May until August.

Our Annex stayed full of furniture from May until August.

Over 70 families were provided furnishings for their new homes. From couches to mattresses, we endeavored to give each family the best we could. Volunteers were vital to our efforts! Moving furniture from the Annex to the trailer. An empty spot in the Annex means a full home elsewhere. Thanks to all of our volunteers. Hard--yet rewarding--work. On the trailer--next stop a Hope Family's living room! Furniture staged and ready to be loaded on a truck for delivery. Furniture staged and ready to be loaded on a truck for delivery. It takes more than a couch to make a home livable. In our inventory area, you can see the stacks of dishes and pans bought for families. Inventory--when a family's home is ready, volunteers come here to gather things to stage for moving. Scripture undergirded our efforts. More inventory. Our motto. Always. We hope we stood out while serving in affected areas. Unlike beds, dishes, or towels, these items can change a life for eternity! The scripture we prayed over our efforts. Loads of mattress! Even the smallest volunteers had a job! Thanks to the outpouring of effort from around the country. Help from around the country.
