Handy Man Ministry
Description: The Calvary Baptist Handyman/Construction Team Ministry is designed to assist both Church members and community members in performing repairs and rehabilitation to their homes.
Contact: If you are interested in participating in this ministry, please contact Billy Hatmaker at Billyhatmaker@gmail.com. Phone 759-1220 (H) 561-7146 (C).
How Does it work?
Volunteers will do the work from the Church and community at no cost
to the recipients. Volunteer time and donations of materials and funds
will be gratefully accepted to accomplish this mission.
Identification of needs from within the church will be made from the deacons, small groups, and any Calvary attendee recognizing a need. Needs identification for community members will come from trusted and recognized individuals from Tuscaloosa Emergency Services, Tuscaloosa Housing Authority, and The Tuscaloosa Prayer Network. We will focus our community efforts on people in Hope Initiative Zones.
We will require release of liability from volunteer workers and recipients of our work. We will take all necessary actions to insure safety of all parties involved on a project.
What Type of work is available?
Light: Small painting jobs, wall patching, fix running commodes, door lock changes, small electrical work, cleaning, yard work, gutter work, light furniture moving.
General: Major painting jobs, more extensive plumbing, electrical repair, wheelchair ramps, removal of trees and branches.
Heavy: Roof Replacement, major home rehab, house renovation, major plumbing. Note that this may only involve as few as one home a year to only a few as these will be projects that require continual work for weeks and will require extensive planning for skill and materials resources.
